Christmas Day York Minster – May the joy of angels, the eagerness of shepherds, the perseverance of magi, and the peace of Christ be yours this Christmas season. Reflect on the journey to Bethlehem as York Minster commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ, the light of the world. Our Christmas Day services offer a chance for worship and reflection. At 8am, join us for Holy Communion from the Book of Common Prayer, providing a serene and traditional start to your celebrations. At 10am, Choral Matins will be sung by the Choir of York Minster, filling the cathedral with joyous melodies.

The main service at 11am features a Sung Eucharist, led by the Choir of York Minster, where The Most Reverend and Right Honourable Stephen Cottrell, Archbishop of York, will deliver a meaningful sermon. Later, at 4pm, experience the beautiful Choral Evensong sung by the same choir, closing the day with solemnity and grace.No booking is required to attend these services, welcoming everyone to participate freely. If you cannot join us in person, the 11am and 4pm services will be livestreamed on our YouTube channel and website, allowing you to worship from the comfort of your home.

Between 12.45pm and 3pm, the cathedral will be open for visitors, free of charge, offering a peaceful space for reflection during this sacred day.
